Help! There is a horrible smell (like death) whenever I turn the heater on in my house - what could it be?

Some of the burning smell you may have is from dust being burned off. When your heat isn't used for awhile, dust settles and it will take about an half hour for the odor to dissipate if not then go in search of this dead animal you suspect.
